I’ve been trying some new coloring processes in Photoshop that are similar to painting. Using prints to add texture in the beginning and the end, as well as some glow and blur effects. A black to transparent gradient from bottom to top seems to add depth.

I think only the nerdiest of nerds would have realized by now that I’m creating custom portraits for Infinity Engine games and that I’ve read/am inspired by Claymore.

A keen eye might also recognize the character and pose from another sketch I’ve done, and so again I’d like to credit Ryan Boyd with allowing me to use his photographs as reference. After looking between the two sketches, I’m liking the slight similarities and differences.
